Scripta Plumaria (From Lat.: “embroidered writings”) is the fourth solo exhibition by artist Nicole Mazza.
The exhibition proposes a journey of revelation accompanied by a fictional text that invites the viewer to delve into her poetics, as if an archaeologist were exploring a peculiar archaeological find. The exhibition consists of a series of twelve embroidered pieces that continue the artist’s line of work, unfolding in various formats.
“Winged youths and eccentric figures, whether nude or clad in extraordinary garments, inhabit this strange place in coexistence with an exuberant nature. Animals and flowers accompany them as witnesses of this unforeseen becoming.
Nothing refers to their economy, their laws or their politics, for no distinctive traits of social organization can be observed. What is clear, however, is that numerous rituals are carried out there, but it is not possible to decipher their origins or their purpose. We can only contemplate this succession of simultaneous events for what they are: an inscrutable mystery.”
